Fossil walking in the footsteps of Mary Anning  Dorset’s, if not the world’s, best known fossil hunter.

 

The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – Fossil hunting is great fun for all the family, however, you will always need to consider certain things when embarking on a fossil hunting expedition for your safety, such as tides and cliff stability. There are also strict rules regarding fossil hunting so always follow the fossil code better still why not ….

… take a Warden guided walk along the Jurassic Coast – not only do you follow the Fossil Collecting Code you will also have a much better chance of discovering your own Jurassic Fossil.

 

These take place at and can be booked from the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre right next to the car park on Charmouth Beach. 

 

Walks last for about two hours and are run from the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre which is situated right next to the car park on the Beach in Charmouth. These guided walks offer excellent value for money and a both fun and educational for all the family.

Walk details

Charges: £7.50 Adult, £3 Child (2 years and under go free). All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

 

Meeting point: Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre

 

Site information: Some uneven ground with sand, pebbles and boulders. Please be suitable dressed for the elements and wear footwear with good tread.
