It’s not very often that we get the chance to have Christmas in early November and this year we did! Dorset Coastal Cottages have been busy over the last few months collating film footage from different locations and attractions to give our customers a truer to life experience of our stunning Jurassic Coastline. So while we had the cameras out, we thought we’d do a Christmas video.
Setting the mood
After going up into the loft to pull down the Christmas boxes and a quick change into more festive clothing, it was off down the road to a house where we could make use of the large spacious rooms and the large open fire. Unfortunately, it had been a very wet day and the children had missed out on their usual run around on the muddy rugby pitch or dog walk along the coast, which consequently left them buzzing. On the positive side, at least the filming was a little more authentic as I am sure nobody can picture children not bouncing up and down with the great excitement and anticipation of opening their presents. Thank goodness that our fabulous cameraman was such a patient and easy-going chap! The children warmed to him instantly and generally listened and paid attention to any instructions that were given.
Setting the scene
To help set the scene for you all, I will run off a few of the props that we had. There was a beautiful, twinkling, lit up Christmas tree, a lovely snowy fir tree and a pine cone garland draped along the top of the mantlepiece. This was finished off with two silver candlesticks and a vibrant red cyclamen in a rattan basket. All of which were sat above the roaring open fire. Not forgetting, of course, the all-important 100% necessary requirement for all children… the Christmas stockings and the wrapped presents under the tree! Sat on the round table in front of the fire we had a celebratory bottle of champagne and a dish of marshmallows at the ready for those moments of needing a little sweet something! Even Tess our loving and loyal family dog joined in on all the festivity, taking prime position in front of the fire!
If I’m honest I was rather dreading having to pull out all the Christmas decorations so early and have to start putting them all up, but actually, we all had a lot of fun! It was all a bit crazy and a lot of laughter was had by all! So, for those of you reading this blog now I hope that you have enjoyed the small film as much as we did making it. Hopefully, it will make you feel that little bit more Christmassy in the lead up to this wonderful family festive time.
