Once the excitement of Christmas is over, the Dorset Coast is a popular destination to get away from it all but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of fun to be had! There’s plenty going on throughout Dorset to celebrate the start of 2014 whether it’s drinking, dancing or something a little more unusual! Our top 3 picks are…
NEW YEARS FANCY DRESS REVELRY IN WEYMOUTH
Weymouth Town Centre and Harbourside comes alive as over 20,000 revellers join together to create Britain’s biggest New Years Eve Fancy Dress Party. Many of Weymouth’s fabulous bars, pubs and restaurants also have their own special New Years events and menus but make sure you book ahead.
Bridport is fast earning a reputation for its New Year’s Eve street parties with fancy dress, entertainment and plenty of fun. Make your way around the town and join everyone at the town hall to listen to the clock strike twelve, or if you want something a little more exclusive, then try an evening of sophisticated decadence at The Bull Hotel. Start the evening off with a lavish five course dinner then head to the Venner Bar to sip cocktails, or for something more lively, pop into The Stable (at the rear of the hotel) for loud, noisy fun with DJs and dancing, a shot bar and fancy dress.
What better way to start the New Year than shaking off that hangover and jumping into the balmy waters off the Sandy Beach at Lyme Regis? The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis who have chosen Clic Sargent, the children’s cancer charity, as the charity that they will support in 2014. It kicks off at a very civilized 1pm on New Years Day, and as an added bonus, you can re-use that outfit from the night before as the event is fancy dress!
