The cottage itself was good. Spacious with a fully equipped kitchen. Allocated parking as well as extra spaces if required. Unfortunately the cottage was by the very noisy main road through Charmouth, and because it was very warm we had to have the windows open so we could hear the traffic all night (also the seagulls but they should be expecteRead mored at a seaside town!). Beds are not very comfy, none of us got a good night sleep. The pillows are very flat and the cottage retained the heat, particularly upstairs, with only duvets for cover. Blankets could be made available in the cupboards for user comfort in the future maybe? Or at least some desktop fans for the warmer months. Staff were lovely, very helpful and explained everything. Couldnt fault them at all. Now the pool. You can only book once a day for an hour between 10am and 4pm. Because there are no lifeguards the office staff sit and watch through the windows which we found off putting. The first time we went there were two older people watching and when the man on the reception finished what he was doing he also took a seat to watch. It is appreciated this is to make sure people followed rules? And a lifeguard would do the same, but they arent lifeguards, so what would they do if there was a need for one? Because of this, two of us only used the pool once. You can also only take an inflatable of a maximum of 24 inches to the pool, which is basically a kids float ring. Whilst it was ok, we wouldnt return. The lack of sleep and pool arrangements have put us off staying at this site, and Charmouth is so small there is no point returning. There is also a hype about finding fossils in Charmouth and Lyme Regis, but unless you are willing to spend hours a day looking, you will find next to nothing with very grumpy kids in tow! Hide

Owners not willing to accept that first week in school summer holidays is "Peak Time", therefore pool opening times very restricted to only a couple of hours late morning (when most people were out). Property needed a thorough clean - cobwebs in every room, filthy windows covered in grime and bird poo. Outside furniture too dirty to use. Cleaned taRead moreble myself but difficult as no cleaning cloths provided. Overall cottage seemed a little neglected and definitely needed some TLC. Hide
